Linhares da Beira

The Castle (a national monument) was erected on giant rocks. Traditional houses, noble palaces, roman forum and the mother-church (houses valuable boards attributed to Grão–Vasco and an illuminated missal from 1613) can be found in this historical village.

Celorico da Beira

The castle and the clock tower can be found in the town centre. They are part of the monuments found in 5 de Outubro Square. Other monuments include the present Solar do Queijo da Serra and St. Mary’s Church (which has a ceiling painted with various saints and tiles that date back to the 17th century).

Open from 10am to 12pm and from 14 to 17 30pm. It houses a collection of Portuguese modern art: paintings from Julio Resende, Menez, Frederico Jorge, João Vieira, Mário Díonisio, Sá Nogueira and drawings and engravings from Julio Pomar, Vieira da Silva, Arpade Szenes, Paula Rego, Carlos Botelho and Luis Doudile.

Cheese Fairs

Various cheese fairs are held in the region from November to April. They begin before sunrise, around 7am and finish always at 9am. In Celorico da Beira there is a cheese fair every two weeks on Fridays. In Carripichana the fairs are also held every two weeks on Monday.
